October was a big month – probably the biggest month for my blog since the beginning. I’ll go into more detail below, but overall it made October an incredibly overwhelming month. I can’t say I’m sad to see it go. Besides the blog stuff, October was honestly just a really fun month. Some really good friends ours officially moved to Madison. We haven’t lived in the same city as them since 2013, so it’s been so fun. And since they live here now, we’ll get to continue that in the future! I can say I’m sad that November being here means we’re just that much closer to winter. Gross. But November being here also means Thanksgiving, which is hands down one of my favorites. I’m looking forward to tackling my goals for November and getting into the holiday season!

First, let’s start with a recap of October. When it comes to my goals for October, I’m going to just put them out of my mind. I successfully completely my one big goal of October that took up a ton of my time, and I’m happy with that.
In case you missed it, I launched my eBook in October! This book has been at the top of my mind of three months and has gotten just about all of my spare time. I put my heart and sole and stress and tears into this bad boy, and I could not be more proud.
In case you didn’t know, Streamline Your Side-Hustle is an eBook written for bloggers who are struggling to balance their blog with the rest of their lives.
P.S. For those of you wondering how I did it, I took the amazing Book Boss course by Abby and Donnie Lawson. This course is the big reason my eBook launch did as well as it did and there were a million tiny details I would never have even thought of without this course. If you’re considering writing an eBook, I can’t recommend this course enough.
Now that we’ve covered the one thing I accomplished in October, let’s move onto November’s goals!
Goals for November
Blog and Biz | Plan 2016 Content
I had this on my list for October but clearly didn’t get around to it. I want to sit down and really nail down my content calendar for the remained of the year. It will make it so much easier to write content ahead of time and avoid too much writing during the holidays. It will also make it easier to plan the transition into 2017. I make sure to keep my content calendar flexible to account for sponsored posts and last-minute ideas, but it’s nice to have a plan anyways.
Blog and Biz | Create a 2017 Business Plan
In keeping with the planning I mentioned above, I want to start working on a business plan for 2017. I want to continue to grow my blog and my blog income, and if launched an eBook taught me anything, it’s that you have to plan so far in advance to accomplish more than one big project each year and to really grow your blog while you’re trying to tackle a project like that. I’d like to break it down quarter by quarter and figure out what big projects I want to tackle and what my focal point will be each month.
Personal | Paint at Least One Room
So I’ve obviously been slacking on the house stuff. For months and months, my goals posts have included house projects and wanting to share a home tour on the blog. Well, I’ve repeatedly failed. I’m going to scale it back a bit and just say that I want to paint at least one room in November (we have two more that we want to paint.)
Personal | Get Out Of the House
Dave and I live in this amazing city where there is so much to do and so many places to eat. Yet when we don’t cook at home, we tend to order takeout and still eat at home. I really want to push for us to get out of the house more this month and experience more of the awesome city we live in, especially since it will be too cold soon!
Personal | Organize the Office
What I’m about to tell you about my home office is slightly embarrassing and slightly horrifying. When we first moved in, the office was a bit of a catch-all room. Anything that didn’t have a home went in the office. And I never really got it organized. I eventually unpacked all the boxes and put everything in piles. But then we adopted Obi and the office was his room. I didn’t want him destroying anything, so I literally shoved all the piles into the closet and closed the door, and that’s where all that crap remains today. Seriously. It’s bad. Now that the eBook is done and I’ll actually have free time at home, I’m going to tackle that bad boy.
That’s all for this month, folks. For the first time ever I actually have more personal than blog goals, probably because the eBook burned me out!
