I can’t tell you guys how excited I am to be writing this post! It’s definitely something that’s been a long time coming. If you read my August Goals post, you know that I was hoping to finally launch my Etsy shop this month! I’ve been preparing and designing for it for a long time and I’m excited to finally launch and share it with the world. Excited, but nervous.
So much has happened in the past year that I never would have pictured in my life. Luckily, those things led me to where I am today with both my blog, and opening my own Etsy shop. A year ago at this time I didn’t have a blog and wasn’t interested in design. Today I have both a blog and a design shop that I’m hoping to turn into a career.
My Etsy shop right now is made up of wedding-related products. Save the date cards, invitations, signs, etc. I intend on adding more variety in the near future, but those are the products that led me to want to start this shop, so that’s where I wanted to start the shop. Last year I started looking for Save the Date cards and invitations for mine and Dave’s wedding. Not only could I not find something quite perfect for Dave and I, I also didn’t want to pay someone else to do something I knew I could do myself.
So, I started experimenting with graphic design. Luckily, I already had some self-taught skill from the time I’d spent working on the blog. I did a ton of research, a ton of reading, and a ton of playing around with different programs before I came up with our finished product. Not only did I save us some money and give our wedding a more personal touch, but I had so much fun working on them! By the time we hit the wedding, I knew I wanted to open an Etsy shop.
The shop has only been open a few days, so I certainly have a long ways to go. Anyone who has had an Etsy shop of their own, I would love to year your feedback! Everyone else, I’d love for you to let me know in the comments what kinds of products you’d like to see in the shop! Be sure to stop by and check out Very Erin Design!
