Since Dave and I are hoping to buy a house during the first half of next year, we made the decision not to exchange gifts this year like we normally would. This is actually the second year in a row we’ve made this decision, as last year we were saving for your wedding. I’m sure we aren’t alone in this. Christmas can be expensive, and there’s a lot of pressure to top the last gift you got them. But sometimes there are just more important things to save for! Since I still want Dave to have a gift to open on Christmas morning, I decided to throw together a few of his favorite things for a simple, affordable, yet enjoyable gift. And all in all, it was less than $20 for everything! So if you’re searching for a Christmas gift for your husband, you can try something like this!

Whenever I’m throwing together a small gift basket for Dave, I always go for one of his favorite snacks. One of those is Slim Jims. I don’t know about your husband, but Dave loves just about any meat-related snack. I feel like we’re always getting snacks like chips and candy, and these are a great replacement! Plus, since the packs are small, you can pick up a few different varieties or use them as a stocking stuffer. Despite being one of his favorites, it’s not something he buys himself very often, so I knew those would be perfect to throw in. I picked these up at Walmart, along with the rest of my gift.
I don’t know about your husband, but mine is obsessed with The Walked Dead (and basically zombies in general). So when I’m buying him gifts, I know that anything Walking Dead themed will be a crowd pleaser. And since I saw the Walking Dead themed packaging on the Slim Jims, my mind was made up. Dave is a big coffee drinker, so I was super excited to see this over-sized Walking Dead coffee mug.
Dave can often be found spending his late nights playing video games, eating his favorite snack, and drinking an energy drink, so I threw in a couple of Monster teas for good measure! And then you’ve got your finished product!
Not being able to buy each other nice Christmas gifts can be disheartening. In the early years of our relationship, we definitely spent more money on gifts for year other. But these days, it seems there are just more important things to put our money toward! Wedding, house, our future. I hate to lose out on the gesture of gift-giving so it helps to find simple, affordable ways to put a smile on his face, especially during the holidays!
