It’s so hard to believe we’re already 1/3 of the way through the year. I’m back once again with my monthly goals, sharing my goals for May today. April was honestly not a productive month for me. I didn’t accomplish nearly as month as I had hoped with my blog, and felt really unmotivated both at work and at home working on my blog. I’m hoping to use May as a fresh start and approach the month completely refreshed and ready to dive back in.
Let’s start with a recap of my April Goals:
Blog and Biz | Create Content Upgrades
Yeah, I didn’t do this at all. I did reevaluate my email list and strategy quite a bit, though. Previously, my largest source of new subscribers had been my free wedding planning checklist. However, since I no longer write about wedding planning, and have no plan to sell products related to wedding planning, I was simply filling my list with subscribers who weren’t interested in what I was actually about. I removed the wedding planning opt-in, and plan to spend May working on my email strategy.
Blog and Biz | Regularly Add New Etsy Products
I didn’t stand by my original goal of adding 1-2 each week, but I did add a few new products in April! Most recently I added these t-shirts for bloggers!
Personal | Buy a House
As you might remember from my April goals post, we actually had our offer accepted literally the day before the post went live! We don’t close until June, but we’ve gotten our inspection, appraisal and loan commitment taken care of, and now it’s literally just a matter of waiting.
Personal | Junk Food Cleanse
Though I didn’t completely cut out junk food, I’m going to count this as a win because I ate significantly better in April, and did cut out soda completely.
Goals for May:
Blog and Biz | Reevaluate Email
I would like to spend some time in May really rethinking my email strategy. This includes determining who exactly I’m hoping to get on my email list, creating opt-ins and content upgrades, and crafting a strategy for the emails I’m sending my subscribers.
Blog and Biz | Continue to Grow Instagram
I want to continue posting on a regular basis, experiment with hashtags and find what’s most effective for me, and consistently grow my number of followers. A big part of this will be continuing to improve my photography, as I’m finally learning how to use my DSLR camera that I’ve had for quite awhile!
Personal | Pack Up Our Apartment
I would like to have our apartment almost completely packed by the end of May. We close June 14 and plan to move in immediately. Unfortunately, we aren’t free either of the first two weekends in June, and will be in two weddings the first three weeks of June. We simply aren’t going to have much free time as we get closer to the move, so I would like to do most of the packing early on.
In addition to packing, we’ll be doing a lot of purging. We have lived in our current apartment for around three years and have belongings that have been in storage that entire time. We’ve been telling ourselves we’ll use them when we have more room, but I’m confident that plenty of those things that go.
I’m going to stick with just three goals this month. I know it seems minuscule, but I know the packing will take up a significant amount of our month, and I want to make sure that, outside of actually writing and promoting blog posts, I’m putting my excess time toward my email list and Instagram.
