I’m sure it would sound cliche for me to start this post by saying “I can’t believe it’s already April!” Sorry, but that’s how it feels each month! March was a massive relief of a month for me. In my full-time job, it was the polar opposite of the stress and high-speed of January and February. March was far more relaxing, allowing me to catch up in all aspects of my life. I was definitely appreciative of the slow-down. However, I’m definitely feeling overwhelmed that we’re already through the first quarter of the year. I have very high hopes for my blog and business for 2016, and knowing I only have 3/4 of a year left to reach those goals is daunting! In the hopes of reaching those hopes, I’m back today sharing my goals for April!
Let’s start with a recap of my March Goals:
Blog and Biz | Relaunch Etsy Shop
YES! This is definitely the thing I’m most excited about for this month. It took a lot soul searching to find my exact vision for my shop, but it seemed so obvious once I found it! I would love for you to check out the shop with gifts and organization/productivity tools! Right now we’ve got notepads, coffee mugs and, most recently, graphic tees!
For more background, you can check the post I wrote last week about why I decided to relaunch my Etsy shop.
Blog and Biz | Restart Weekly Emails
I got this done right at the end of the month, and I couldn’t be more relieved! I sent out emails last week, as well as yesterday. It’s such a relief to be connecting with my subscribers on a more personal level. My email list has grown so much over the last few months, but I hadn’t sent anything out since January! If you’d like to follow along on the email list and get exclusive content, discount codes for the Etsy shop, and more, you can sign up here!
Personal | Run Outside Once Per Week
I’m totally admitting my failure on this one. I swear I had every intention of running outside. But when it comes down to it, it’s so much easier to just hop on the elliptical. Plus I can do that while I watch TV. I’m going to continue to work on this in the future, especially now that it’s nicer out.
Personal | Read Two Books
I failed on this one as well. I haven’t been making much time for reading lately. I promise I’ll work on it.
Goals for April
Blog and Biz | Create Content Upgrades
Though I’ve managed to grow my email list quite a bit over the last few months, I haven’t been adding content upgrades to any of my blog posts this year. I currently rely mostly on my exit pop up and the various opt-in boxes throughout my site, and I know adding content upgrades would help me exponentially grow my list! I’ll start with growing through my most popular posts and seeing if I can incorporate content upgrades, and add them to new posts going forward.
Note: I currently use MailChimp for my email list, which makes it kind of a pain to add individual content upgrades. Eventually, I’ll be looking to upgrade to ConvertKit, so I would love to hear feedback from anyone who currently uses it or has used it in the past!
Blog and Biz | Regularly Add New Etsy Products
When I originally started my Etsy shop, I took the “set it and forget it” approach. I added a ton of products when I launched, but didn’t regularly add new items. I’m taking a very different approach this time! I started the shop with fewer items under the pretense that I would regularly add items. My goal is to add at least 1-2 new products each week so I can consistently increase options and my boost my shop in the Etsy search.
Personal | Buy a House
So, funny story. I wrote this post on Sunday, and I sincerely hoped that we would buy a house in April. Then, the very next day, a beautiful house came on the market and Dave and I fell in love. The housing market moves fast in Madison, so we knew it would be gone within 48 hours. We went to see it right away, put in our offer, and they accepted! Now I can’t stop gushing over the pictures and picturing everything we’ll do with the house. So, pending an inspection, appraisal, etc, the house will be ours in June! I thought about just removed this goal from the post, but I thought it would be more fun to cross it off right away and fill you all in!
Personal | Junk Food Cleanse
Dave and I decided that one of our big goals for April will be cutting our some of the junk food in our diet. We typically do okay with our breakfast, lunch and dinner, but we do a lot of snacking as well. We decided that this month we’re going to work on cutting out all soda and candy. I don’t drink a ton of soda but typically do if we go out do dinner or grab fast food. Chocolate is a love of mine, but I think I can deal with a month without it!
That’s all for this month. Dave and I have a busy spring ahead of us. We’re each in a wedding this spring, which means many weekends filled with bachelor and bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and weddings! That means my weddings are less open for blogging, and time is going to fly when I’m using my available weeknights for all of my blogging tasks!
