I’m so excited for this post! It’s the first “goals” post of the new year. I love doing my monthly goals posts and have been even more excited to write this one since a new year is such a great opportunity for a new beginning and new resolutions. I considered using my goals for January post to write my resolutions for the year but decided against it. I prefer instead to write more manageable goals that have an end date in sight, as opposed to resolutions I’ll likely have forgotten about by March.
I have pretty high expectations for myself this year and a lot I want to accomplish, and I think my goals will reflect that. I really want to start working on the areas where I’ve been lacking. I’m so excited to share my January goals with you! And I definitely want to hear your goals as well!
Let’s start with a recap of my December Goals:
-Create a business plan for 2016 for my blog and shop. Yep! I’m so excited to be going into the new year with a renewed motivation and plan in mind. -Do a visual audit of my blog and make necessary changes (including sidebar, About Me page, etc.) I did! You can read this post to find out the changes I made to make my blog design 2016-ready. -Create three new products for the Etsy shop. Though I haven’t posted them for sale yet, I was able to knock out quite a few new Etsy products this month. I’m going to be adding them this weekend, and I’m super excited for you to see what’s coming up! I’ve got some VERY new things coming!
-Make a sincere effort to cut back on all spending that isn’t holiday related. This would be the one goal that I probably failed at, but I’ve come to terms with that.
-Do some reorganizing to make our apartment more livable and organized. Specifically clean up my office area and the breakfast bar. I was able to clean up my work-space a lot, and have actually been able to use my desk again as opposed to working on the couch because of how messy my desk was! -Set aside anything blog and work related to give my full attention during the holiday to Dave and family. Definitely! I actually did a better job of this than I thought I would. Though I didn’t initially intend to, I ended up taking a break from blogging for the entire week of Christmas. I was nervous about not posting for an entire week because I’ve never done that before, but I’m so glad I did! It was wonderful to be able to relax and not get on a computer at all over the holidays.
Goals for January
-Schedule all posts for the week by Sunday. This is going to be a big one for me. I used to be much better at this, and it’s something I try to do in order to make my week easier. I’m going to put in an extra effort this month to do it every week.
-Post on Instagram at least 4x per week. For some, this might sound so easy. But I’ve said on here before that Instagram is such a struggle for me! I really want to start incorporating it into my business more, so I’m going to shoot for 4x per week, instead of the measly 1/week I typically do.
-Finish at least three sections in the wedding planning book I’ve been working on. It’s been coming along slowly for the past couple of months, so I want to really challenge myself to get a chunk of it done this month.
-Cook one new recipe each week. I’ve been doing a much better job of meal planning and cooking at home, so I want to start working on the tons of recipes I have saved and have been wanting to try! I figure one new recipe each week is a good balance and realistic enough to accomplish.
-Have three date nights with Dave. Since we’ll be home every weekend in January, which really never happens, I want to shoot for at least three date nights. We order food often, but rarely get out of the house and have a real date!
-Do some cleaning each day to make sure the apartment stays clean throughout the month. This will be a lofty one for me! I’m not someone who jumps up to do the dishes each night after dinner or who has all the laundry done on a regular basis. But I really want to push myself to do something each day to make our home a big cleaner.
