Is it going to be a huge cliche if I say, “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe it’s February already!” I know I say the same thing every month. But it’s true! I really can’t believe it! Like just about every month, January freaking flew by. It was a month with lots of ups and downs. Work was the busiest and hardest month I’ve work I’ve had in my career thus far. Then, during one of the busiest weeks, I randomly had two days of jury duty. Crazy, right? Overall, my January goals were a little rocky. But I’m okay with it, because I feel like I accomplished a ton this month, and overcame a lot. And I’m shooting for February to be even better! So keep reading to check out my goals for February! I’d love to hear your goals for February too!
Let’s start with a recap of my January Goals:
Schedule all posts for the week by Sunday. (Yes! I’m excited to say this is something I’ve consistently done all month! I’ve been SO busy during the week with my job, so I can honestly say I wouldn’t have been able to get blog posts up if I had relied on the week days to get them written, which I used to do. Since I’m going to continue to be extremely busy at work, I’m going to keep up with this habit of writing all my posts on the weekends.)
-Post on Instagram at least 4x per week. (Whomp. I failed on this one. A lot. It’s something I’ll continue to work on throughout the year.)
-Finish at least three sections in the wedding planning book I’ve been working on. (I did a lot of soul-searching this month and as I explained in this post, I’ve decided to move away from writing about wedding planning on my blog. It’s not a topic I’m passionate about anymore, so I also won’t be continuing with the book.)
Cook one new recipe each week. I haven’t kept track to see if I’m actually cooking one new one each week, but I’m going to call this a win, because I’ve managed to make several new recipes this month!)
Have three date nights with Dave. (Dave and I have gone into extreme savings mode this month, since we’re so close to having the money for our house down-payment. Therefore, we’re limiting our nights out. However, we were able to have three dates this month thanks to gift cards from the holidays!)
-Do some cleaning each day to make sure the apartment stays clean throughout the month. (I’m not going to talk about this one, other than to acknowledge that I’m not crossing it off.)
Goals for February
-Maintain my pageview boom. I went from around 60k pageviews in December to more than 200k in the month of January. I had one post do particularly well on Pinterest, so I don’t anticipate hitting 200k again this month, but I would like to keep those numbers up and at least stay in the range of 100k-150k.
-Write a business plan for different ways I can monetize my blog this year. My pageviews have improved drastically in the last few months, though my monetization hasn’t. That’s going to be my new big priority this month.
-Design and post 5 new products for the Etsy shop. I’ve had so many thoughts over the last month about what I want my Etsy shop to be. I started the shop selling wedding invitations, and other wedding-related stationery. However, I’m not longer focusing on wedding topics on my blog. So do I want to continue to sell wedding items in my shop? There’s definitely going to be some changes there as well!
-Keep track of our spending in our budget spreadsheet. I mentioned above that we’ve gone into major spending mode to prepare for buying a house. We sat down and set a firm budget for ourselves for each month. I want to make sure we’re tracking our spending to ensure we’re following that budget.
-Devote one evening each week to no TV. Dave and I have a bad habit of coming home from work and planting in front of the TV. I would like to challenge myself to leaving at least one evening during the week as a TV-free evening. I know I’m going to be able to accomplish a lot of those extra hours!
-Increase the amount of water I drink. This is something I need to work on, both at home and work. I’m challenging myself to fill my water glass 4+ times during the work day, and at least 2-3 times in the evening.
